Away from the big cities and on the border of the provinces of Friesland and Drenthe, you will find an astonishingly beautiful and centuries-old nature reserve: the Drents-Friese Wold. The area has a particularly rich history and a variety of woods, heathland, sand drifts and lakes. You will discover the most stunning spots while cycling, walking or on horseback. If you are lucky, you will be treated to a crossing flock of sheep or a red-haired Scottish Highlander!
A little further away, but definitely doable for a day; sailing on the Frisian Lakes or a visit to a Wadden Island! Small children along? They are guaranteed to have great fun in Amusement park Duinen Zathe, the ‘Kameleondorp’ or Flippies Pretpaleis!
