Practical information for your stay at Molecaten Park Waterdunen

On the day of arrival, you are welcome from 4:00 pm in your rental accommodation and from 1:00 pm on your camping pitch. After checking in, your holiday really starts! If you arrive outside the opening hours of the reception, we kindly ask you to contact us.

You can dispose of your waste in the waste containers at our park. The waste disposal points are shown on the park map. We ask that you separate glass, paper, residual waste and PD waste in the appropriate containers. PD waste (plastic packaging and drink cartons) must be handed in bags. Please note that cans do not belong to PD waste.

The Molecaten app for Apple can be downloaded from the App Store! The Android version can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

By using the app, we limit the amount of printed material. That is important to us at Molecaten!

To keep our park as quiet and safe as possible, we ask you to make minimal use of your car on the park. Please drive at walking pace and do not leave the engine running unnecessarily. You can park your car in the designated parking area within the park. A possible second car can only be parked on the park in consultation with reception and for a fee.

We use licence plate recognition at the barrier. On arrival you use (once only) the PIN you receive by e-mail on the day of arrival. Your license plate will then be automatically recognised at the barrier. If we have your mobile phone number, you will also receive this PIN code by SMS on the day of your arrival. The barrier is closed from 11:00 pm to 07:00 am. If you want to enter the park outside these hours, you can park in the car park outside the barrier. However, you can leave the park by car at any time.

Barbecuing on charcoal and briquettes is allowed unless there is a prolonged drought and a temporary ban is in force due to natural fire risk. This is clearly indicated at the park or check natuurbrandrisico.nl. Barbecuing on propane gas and electric is always allowed. When barbecuing, take the necessary precautions and ensure that a bucket of water is always present.

Please note, the use of disposable barbecues is never allowed. Also prohibited in order to ensure fire safety: use of liquid lighters, fire basket and torches or making an open fire.

We would like to draw your attention to a few creatures that (temporarily) occur in the vicinity of our park and can be annoying:

• Browntail moth caterpillar: this larva of a moth eats sea buckthorn bushes bare. Read more (in Dutch) about this animal and what to do if you've been in touch.
• Lesser weever: this perch-like fish is found in the North Sea and burrows under sand. Read more (in Dutch) about the fish here and what to do after a sting.
• Grain thrips: These small, wingless insects can suddenly appear in large numbers, especially when thunderstorms are approaching (hence their nickname: thunderbugs). Read more (in Dutch) about this special creature, which is part of the rural character of our region and disappears just as unexpectedly as it came.

Your visitors are welcome in our park, please register them at reception. Would your visitors like to stay overnight? Always register your guest at reception. For a guest on a camping pitch you pay €4.90 per night, excluding tourist tax. If there is room for a guest in your rental accommodation, you only pay tourist tax.

Because of the diversity of appliances and different brands and types, it is not possible for us to provide a description of every appliance. Fortunately, there is a website where you can find a lot of user manuals. Search here by brand, model and type for the correct description. Still too difficult? Please let us know!

Your pet is welcome on our camping pitches and in the permitted rental accommodation. Please leave the site for a walk. If your dog has defecated prematurely, please clean up immediately so that no one else is inconvenienced. We also ask you to keep your dog on a leash throughout the park, including on your pitch or by the rental accommodation. Dogs are allowed on the beach near the park, but not in the Waterdunen nature reserve.

To allow all guests to enjoy their stay to the fullest, park regulations have been drawn up. The complete regulations can be found on www.molecaten.com/en/conditions and can be obtained at the reception.

Are you enjoying yourself and would you like to stay a little longer? Please come to reception and ask about availability and possibilities to extend your stay on the camping pitch or in the rental accommodation.

Our park is situated in a nature reserve which we would like to keep beautiful together with you. Please enjoy your stay in nature with respect and do not leave any trash behind in the dunes, around our park or on the beach.

Young animals

All (young) animals that you come across in the park are best left alone and are not to be fed. Even when you think the animal is in distress. Often it is a young bird that is trying to fly (nestlings) and the 'parent' birds are nearby, but they do not dare to show themselves in the presence of people. Are you worried about a (young) animal at the park? Then please report it to the reception desk.

Ticks

Ticks occur throughout the country, in the forest, park, heathland, dunes or in the garden. They can be found near trees or bushes, in high grass or between dead leaves. They can bite into people's skin. A tick bite can make you ill. Check your body and clothes for ticks and tick bites. Ticks can bite anywhere, but prefer the groin, hollows of the knees, armpits, buttocks, edges of underwear, behind the ears and around the hairline in the neck. Got a tick bite? Remove the tick quickly and inform your doctor that you have suffered a tick bite.

Lighting

Our park is managed as naturally as possible. As the park is located in a nature reserve, lighting at night is limited as much as possible. Too much lighting disturbs animal life. The lighting in the grounds is set in such a way that you, as a guest, can still find your way around but it causes as little disturbance as possible to the nocturnal animals.

Waterdunen is a unique nature reserve and an icon of Zeeland. In this 350-hectare nature and recreation area, the tides play a leading role. The innovative tidal culvert ensures that salt water flows in and out behind the dike. This makes Waterdunen, with its mudflats, salt marshes, tidal flats and shallow water, an important refuelling station for birds and a nursery for fish. There are three walking routes through Waterdunen, with several bird-watching huts and viewing platforms. See the beautiful birds up close without them seeing you!
Good to know: Dogs are not allowed in the nature reserve.

AED

The AED is located at reception and at the sanitary building on the 5th camping field. The AED box can be opened by anyone if the situation requires it. After calling 112, always call the emergency number 0031 117 - 792 011 option 9, so that we can provide assistance.

In case of fire

• Call 112
• Then call the reception/emergency number 0031 117 - 792 011 option 9.
• Give a clear description of the location of the fire.
• Make sure that paths and roads are easily accessible and that there are no obstacles (cars) in the way.
• Stay close, but choose a safe place. This applies both to yourself and to other people present. If possible, try to shut off the gas supply and the electricity connection in the accommodation. If possible, try to extinguish an incipient fire. A fire extinguisher must be available in every accommodation.

In case of an accident/serious injury

• Call 112
• Then call the reception/emergency 0031 117 - 792 011 option 9.
• Give a clear description of the situation and the victim's location.
• Stay close to the victim and, if possible, provide first aid while waiting for the ambulance. Do not lose sight of your own safety.

In case of a disaster

• Listen to Omroep Zeeland (ether: 87.9 FM or 98.4 FM).
• Follow the instructions of our staff. The park has several (emergency) entrances and exits.
• Make sure you always know where you are in the park and where the nearest exit is.

Tips

• Have the fire extinguisher in your camping equipment inspected annually. Only then can you rely on it in case of an emergency.
• Install smoke, gas and carbon monoxide detectors.
• Have your gas appliances cleaned regularly to prevent suffocation by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Ou rpark is surrounded by greenery and nature. As a result, insects and rodents may be present at our park. We regularly inspect our campsites and treat any infestation in an environmentally and animal-friendly way. To prevent problems, we ask that you take your waste to the recycling station on time and do not leave it lying around. If you experience any problems with pests, please report it to the reception, and we will be happy to assist you.

It is not allowed to charge an electric car via an electricity point in/near the rental accommodation or on the camping pitch. There are four charging points for electric cars on our park, the capacity is 11 kWh (3-phase, 16A charging station). Or use a charging point in the area.

Between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am it should be quiet on our park. We ask you to be considerate of our other guests and the environment. 

Some useful tips for the beach:

Dogs

In the season 1 May - 1 October dogs are allowed to run free on the beach before 10:00 am and after 06:00 pm. Between 10:00 am and 06:00 pm dogs must be kept on a leash. 1 October - 1 May dogs are allowed to run free on the beach all day.

Kite flying

You can fly kites all year round on the beach. Kite flying with multiple lines is not allowed between 10:00 am and 06:00 pm from 1 May to 1 October within an area designated for bathers and swimmers.

Fishing

Fishing is allowed from the beach all year round. Except from 1 June to 1 September, when fishing is only allowed before 10:00 am and after 06:00 pm within an area designated for bathers and swimmers.

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is permitted within the designated areas on the beach at the beach pavilion Breskens aan Zee (Promenade 2, Breskens).

Warning flags

• Red/yellow flag: lifeguard present
• Yellow flag: swimming dangerous
• Red flag: swimming prohibited
• Wind bag: floating objects prohibited
• White flag with question mark: child found

Nude beach

Nude recreation is permitted on the beach in Breskens. At beach poles 21 and 22 on the entire beach and at poles 22 and 23 for half the beach.

Please report any faults in the electrical, central antenna or WiFi installation, or the water, sewage or gas pipes to reception. We will try to remedy it as soon as possible. Is reception closed? Then call us on the telephone number below. Reports submitted after 10 p.m. may be assessed and, if necessary, taken up after 9 a.m. the following day.

What to do before departure:

• Strip the beds, put the linen together with the kitchen and hand towels (in case of renting) in the white laundry bag and place this near the front door.
• Do the dishes and/or empty the dishwasher and leave it clean.
• Leave the hob and kitchen inventory clean.
• Empty the refrigerator, set it to its lowest position and close the door.
• Set the thermostat to 15°C.
• Sweep the floors with the soft broom.
• Deposit bin bags and any other waste in the designated containers.

Leave your rental accommodation no later than 10.00 am.
Leave your key at reception.
Are you leaving outside the opening hours of the reception? Then you can leave the key in the mailbox at reception.

Before 11:00 am, at the latest, you must vacate your camper or camping pitch and leave it clean. Please dispose of rubbish bags and any other waste in the appropriate containers. We would like to hear from you on departure how you experienced your stay.

As a guest, you can use Molecaten WiFi free of charge at our park. During your stay, you can easily check your e-mail, check the weather of visit other websites. You will receive the information for logging in to the WiFi network by e-mail and SMS.
