The landscape of Voorne-Putten offers a lot of variety! You will find the most beautiful and quiet cycle routes, but also adventurous mountain bike tours. With no fewer than 300 km of cycle paths at your disposal, you will not have enough time. Does the other side lure you? Then take one of the ferries that cross the waterways around the island. Behind the wide strip of dunes, an open landscape awaits with old creeks, fields and massive fortifications from three different periods. Cycle past the fortified town of Brielle, ancient forts and a secret German bunker.
It wasn't always peaceful on Voorne-Putten. The attractive fortified town of Brielle played a leading role in the Eighty Years' War and the heavily defended Hellevoetsluis was for a long time the home port of the war fleet. In between, there are two forts, which had to defend a water line in the event of an enemy harbour.
